Anu Garg Reviews Hirakud Tourism Projects to Boost Heritage Tourism in Odisha
Bhubaneswar, Oct 9 — Development Commissioner-cum-Additional Chief Secretary Anu Garg chaired a high-level review meeting today to assess progress on two flagship tourism projects under the Special Assistance to States for Capital Investment (SASCI) scheme.
Senior officials from the Odisha government and the Tourism Department presented updates on the Hirakud Master Plan, which outlines the development blueprint for the region. The plan includes detailed assessments of site sensitivities, required clearances, and infrastructure goals.
Two major attractions are in focus:
- Water and Light Symphony: A multimedia experience that narrates the journey of the Mahanadi River and the creation of the Hirakud Dam. The project aims to blend history, culture, and technology to create an immersive visitor experience.
- Dam Museum: Designed to showcase the pre-dam history of the region, including floods and famines, the museum will feature interactive exhibits, augmented reality (AR), virtual reality (VR), and hands-on learning spaces.
Anu Garg directed the Odisha Construction Corporation (OCC) to ensure timely execution of both projects. The initiatives are expected to enhance tourism, preserve regional heritage, and offer engaging experiences for visitors.
