
Barendra Krushna Vidyalaya Marks 100 Years with Rs 1 Crore Boost from Odisha CM
Banki, — In a landmark moment for education in Odisha, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi attended the centenary celebration of Barendra Krushna Vidyalaya and announced a Rs 1 crore grant for the construction of a new auditorium.
The grant, drawn from his discretionary fund, underscores the government’s commitment to preserving heritage institutions and enhancing educational infrastructure.
Calling the school “a movement that empowered generations,” Majhi praised its century-long legacy of resilience and transformation.
He emphasised the role of education in shaping self-aware, dignified citizens and reaffirmed his government’s dedication to implementing the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 across the state.
Majhi outlined sweeping reforms:
- 762 schools to be upgraded under the PM-Shri scheme.
- Rs 12,000 crore investment to launch the Godavari Mishra Ideal Primary School Scheme in 2,200 panchayats.
- Recruitment of 44,433 teachers over three years.
- Revival of century-old institutions under the Heritage School Scheme.
- Rs 31,000 crore allocated for primary education—14.2% of the state budget.
Encouraging holistic development, Majhi urged students to explore careers in arts, sports, and music, and advised parents to support diverse aspirations beyond traditional paths.
The CM also directed the Cuttack District Collector to assess the feasibility of converting Banki NAC into a municipality.
The event featured speeches from MP Bhartruhari Mahatab, MLA Devi Ranjan Tripathy, and members of the Centenary Committee, celebrating the school’s enduring impact and Odisha’s renewed push for inclusive education.
