Police Constable Dies Rescuing Tourists from Wild Boar Attack in Khordha

KHORDHA, — A police constable lost his life while heroically rescuing five stranded tourists from a wild boar attack near Barunei hills on Sunday. The tourists, hailing from Jatani, were trekking when a wild boar charged at them unexpectedly.

In panic, some climbed trees while others were injured trying to escape.

Local police and residents rushed to the scene, but the aggressive animal attacked the rescuers as well. One constable went missing during the chaos and was later found dead.

Forest and fire department teams joined the operation, eventually tranquillising the boar and rescuing all five tourists safely.

Senior officials, including the Khordha SP and DFO, monitored the situation closely. The incident has sparked concern over wildlife safety in popular trekking zones.
