Fifth Broker Nabbed in Odisha SI Exam Scam Crackdown
In a decisive move to curb malpractice in public examinations, the Odisha Police’s Crime Branch has arrested Arabinda Das, the fifth broker implicated in the Sub-Inspector (SI) exam scam. Das, 43, was apprehended from Nabara under the Singala Police Station in Balasore district on October 5, 2025.
The arrest follows sustained interrogation and the recovery of incriminating materials, as confirmed by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID).
Das’s involvement was traced back to Golanthara Police Station Case No. 447, dated September 30, which was later registered as CID Crime Branch PS Case No. 07.
Das was produced before the Judicial Magistrate First Class (Rural) in Berhampur for legal proceedings.
His arrest marks a significant step under the Odisha Public Examination (Prevention of Unfair Means) Act, 2024, which aims to uphold the integrity of recruitment processes.
Authorities have indicated that the investigation remains active, with further leads being pursued to dismantle the broader network behind the scam.
