Class 10 Student Missing in Kathajodi River; Rescue Ops Underway

Cuttack, Oct 4 — A 16-year-old student from DAV Public School, CDA-6, has gone missing in the Kathajodi River, triggering an intense search operation and widespread concern across the Twin City region.

The boy, identified as Shriyanshu Das from Madhuban, Kendrapara, had reportedly gone to Balighat on Friday to bathe in the river.

Eyewitnesses saw him enter the water but did not see him return, prompting locals to alert Bidanasi Fire Services.

Rescue teams, including divers and boats equipped with underwater scanners, launched a search that continued overnight. Despite exhaustive efforts, the boy remained untraceable as of Friday evening.

Police have recorded statements from nearby residents and gathered information about the boy’s movements prior to the incident. Family members rushed to the site and are anxiously awaiting updates.
