Cleanliness as Service: Gandhi Jayanti Marks Grand Finale of Fortnight-long Drive at Oraghat Iron Mine

Barbil:The “Swachhata Hi Seva” campaign, launched on September 17 by Rungta Sons Pvt. Ltd. at the Oraghat Iron Mine in the Koida mining belt, culminated in a spirited celebration on Gandhi Jayanti. The fortnight-long initiative blended community service, awareness drives, and health outreach, echoing the national ethos of cleanliness and civic responsibility.

🧹 Massive Voluntary Clean-Up Across Mining Campus
From administrative buildings to market zones, employees, sanitation workers, departmental staff, contract labourers, and security personnel joined hands in a sweeping cleanliness effort. Areas covered included the old colony, guest house, electrical DG room, roads, intersections, and public spaces.

🌱 Tree Plantation and Morning Marches
The campaign also saw extensive tree plantation drives, reinforcing environmental stewardship. On Gandhi Jayanti, a Prabhat Pheri (morning march) was organised in Sanindipur Rungta Colony, adding vibrancy to the occasion.

🚶 Awareness Rally and School Engagements
A Janjagran Shobhayatra (public awareness rally) commenced from the Oraghat Mines office, winding through school routes and local villages before concluding at the parking zone. The rally featured enthusiastic participation from mine workers, villagers, and schoolchildren.

✍ Creative Competitions for Cleanliness Awareness
Local schools—including Oraghat Primary School, Kalamang High School, and Saraswati Shishu Mandir (Katasahi)—hosted essay, slogan, and drawing competitions centred on cleanliness. Winners received prizes and hygiene kits, fostering awareness among young minds.

🩺 Health Camp for Sanitation Workers
Company doctors Dr. Muktikant Mahanti and Dr. Sunil Kumar Patel conducted health check-ups for sanitation workers, complemented by a TB awareness session. Paramedical staff, including Sujit Kumar Mahanti, Arun Kumar Bal, and Shivaji Mahanti, provided vital support.

🎯 Leadership and Execution
The entire program was executed under the direct supervision of Mine Manager Subhash Chandra Pradhan. Social Welfare Head Dr. Anjan Kumar Lenka played a pivotal role, with support from Acting Mine Manager Indrajit Panda. Active contributors included Vidyadhar Sahu, Ranjan Kumar Pani, DS Dinkar, Satyajit Mahapatra, and many others from the Oraghat team.
