MCL launches statewide clean-up drive, targets six lakh sq. ft. in Odisha

Bhubaneswar, Oct 3 (UNI) Mahanadi Coalfields Limited (MCL) has identified nearly six lakh square feet of surface area across 231 locations in Odisha for a comprehensive clean-up operation.
The campaign, which will run for a month until October 31, will clean the identified areas, which include mining sites, workshops, residential colonies, and office premises.

The initiative focuses on improving office spaces, ensuring cleanliness and implementing efficient e-waste management and scrap disposal.

According to MCL sources, about 543 metric tonnes of scrap have also been earmarked for systematic disposal. The campaign will cover MCL’s operational areas in Angul, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur and Sundargarh districts.
The public sector company launched the campaign under the banner of “Special Campaign 5.0” on October 2, Gandhi Jayanti — a nationwide initiative promoting cleanliness, efficiency, and good governance in government offices.
MCL Director (HR) Keshav Rao emphasised that Swachhata is not just a campaign but an ongoing responsibility.
