Depression Brewing Over Bay of Bengal: Odisha and Andhra Coasts Brace for Impact
A low-pressure system has formed over the west-central Bay of Bengal, triggered by cyclonic circulation in the east-central region.
According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the system is intensifying and is expected to evolve into a Depression by the morning of October 2.
Forecast models suggest the Depression will move northwestward, making landfall near the south Odisha and north Andhra Pradesh coasts by the morning of October 3.
The IMD has issued alerts for heavy rainfall, gusty winds, and potential flooding in coastal areas.
Local authorities have urged fishermen and coastal communities to exercise caution and avoid venturing into the sea. Shipping operations may also be disrupted due to turbulent conditions.
The IMD continues to monitor the system closely, with further updates expected as the Depression strengthens. Residents in vulnerable zones are advised to stay tuned to official advisories and prepare for emergency measures if needed.
