Odisha to Plant 75 Lakh Trees on PM Modi’s Birthday | Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam 2.0

In a landmark move to celebrate Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s birthday on September 17, 2025, the Odisha government will undertake a massive tree plantation drive, aiming to plant 75 lakh trees in a single day.

The initiative, titled Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam 2.0, was reviewed by Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi at Lok Seva Bhawan, with directives issued to ensure seamless coordination across departments and communities.

The campaign seeks to engage a wide spectrum of participants—including students, teachers, Anganwadi and ASHA workers, NSS volunteers, and eco-clubs—who will plant trees from sunrise to sunset.

Participants are encouraged to upload selfies with their saplings to the Meri LiFE portal, which will issue digital certificates to commemorate their contribution.

Departments such as Forest, Panchayati Raj, Agriculture, and Industries will collectively contribute millions of trees, with district collectors instructed to monitor the drive in an election-like mode to ensure transparency and efficiency.

This initiative is not only a tribute to PM Modi’s five-decade-long political journey but also a testament to Odisha’s commitment to sustainable development. With 4.65 crore trees already planted this year, the state is on track to reach its goal of 7.5 crore trees by the end of 2025.
