Odisha CM Majhi transfers Rs.1,041 crore to 51 Lakh farmers under CM Kisan Yojana
Bhubaneswar, Aug 27 (UNI) Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi today transferred the third installment of the CM Kisan Yojana—amounting to over Rs.1,041 crore, to more than 51 lakh farmers of Odisha through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT).
Majhi said the assistance was being provided in advance, as the month of Bhadra marks the sowing of new crops and the beginning of pre-Rabi agricultural activities in the state.
He reiterated the government’s commitment to not just doubling but multiplying the income of farming families.
Praising the farming community, he said, “Your time-saving and collective efforts have significantly increased agricultural production in the state.”
Highlighting the importance of agriculture, Majhi noted that over 60 percent of Odisha’s population depends on agriculture and allied activities.
More than 82 percent of the state’s farmers are small and marginal, while a large number of landless families are also engaged in agricultural work to support their livelihoods.
To ensure financial self-reliance of these families, the state government has launched the CM Kisan Yojana with its own resources, Majhi said and described it as an innovative welfare scheme that provides financial support to small and marginal farmers to buy seeds and fertilizers for both Kharif and Rabi crops.
Reaffirming the government’s farmer-first approach, the Chief Minister said, “Our government always believes in farmer-centric policies. We do not merely assist farmers; we stand as partners
in their aspirations and hopes.”
Majhi further added that during the past fourteen months, the government has promptly extended support, whether under welfare schemes or during natural disasters, without hesitation.
