
Odisha bags national award as emerging state in organ donation
Bhubaneswar, Aug 5 (UNI) In a significant milestone for Odisha, the state has been conferred with the National Award as the Emerging State in Organ Donation.
Union Minister of Health & Family Welfare Jagat Prakash Nadda, while presenting the award, congratulated the people of Odisha and the State Government for their exemplary performance
in the field of organ donation and transplantation.
The award citation noted that Odisha’s commitment and contribution are commendable and have played a vital role in giving new life to patients suffering from end-stage organ failure.
Prof (Dr) Umakanta Satapathy, Additional Director of Medical Education and Training, and Dr Bibhuti Bhusan Nayak, Professor in-charge of the State Organ and Tissue Transplant Organisation (SOTTO), received the award on behalf of the state, official sources said here today.
The award was presented during a special ceremony held at Dr Ambedkar International Centre, New Delhi, on the occasion of the 15th Indian Organ Donation Day, organised by the National Organ and Tissue Transplantation Organisation (NOTTO) under the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Government of India.
