Sambalpur,(OT Webdesk)— In a tragic turn of events, two students from Burla Medical College lost their lives after drowning at the Debjharan waterfall near Jujumura on Saturday.
The victims, one male and one female, were part of a group of six students who had ventured to the scenic spot for a leisure outing.
According to eyewitnesses, the duo accidentally slipped into the water and were swept away by strong currents.
Locals immediately raised an alarm, prompting emergency services to rush to the site. Despite rescue efforts, both students were declared dead.
The Superintendent and Dean of Burla Medical College arrived at the location to oversee the situation and support the grieving families. The incident has sent shockwaves through the medical community and the victims’ families.
Debjharan waterfall, a popular monsoon destination, has long been admired for its natural beauty, but also poses safety risks during high-water seasons.
