Bhubaneswar, July 9(OT Webdesk): In a high-level review meeting chaired by Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi at Lok Seva Bhawan, the Odisha Mining Corporation (OMC) unveiled an ambitious operational roadmap to achieve 50 million tonnes of mineral production and Rs 30,000 crore in sales for FY 2025–26.
A key focus was on ramping up bauxite output, with plans to scale from 3.6 million tonnes this year to 6 million tonnes in the next fiscal.
To support this expansion, the state-run miner is fast-tracking mine lease extensions, environmental clearances, and the operationalisation of new sites.
The Chief Minister also laid strong emphasis on sustainable development and directed OMC to integrate afforestation, community welfare initiatives, and convergence of government schemes to uplift mining-affected areas.
One of the most significant announcements was the revival of the pellet plant project, with operations expected to begin by May 2026.
The techno-economic feasibility study has been entrusted to MECON, a government enterprise, while a dedicated project committee will oversee timely execution.
This plant is poised to boost mineral value addition and job creation within the state.
To support its growing ambitions, OMC plans to recruit skilled professionals across departments and reinforce operational efficiency.
The roadmap also includes a special blueprint to synergise developmental schemes for holistic regional advancement.
Attendees at the meeting included senior bureaucrats, department heads, and OMC leadership, signalling the administration’s high-stakes commitment to balancing industrial growth with social responsibility.
