Illegal Arms Factory Busted in Nayagarh Reserve Forest
Nayagarh, June 3 (OT Webdesk): In a major breakthrough against the illegal arms trade, Daspalla Police successfully dismantled an underground arms manufacturing unit concealed within a reserve forest near Dwaragaon village.
Acting on a tip-off, authorities conducted a raid that led to the arrest of four individuals suspected of being involved in fabricating and selling illegal firearms.
The arrested suspects—Rajesh Kumar Pradhan (27), Bibhuti Parida (27), Tapan Parida (25), and Gobardhana Parida (48)—are all residents of Nayagarh district. During the operation, police seized two weapons: a country-made double-barrel pistol and a single-barrel muzzle-loading gun. These discoveries ultimately led them to a hidden firearms workshop deep in the forest.
Preliminary investigations suggest that the firearms were sold to local buyers, potentially used for intimidation and dacoity. Authorities suspect that the group has links to a larger network of illegal arms suppliers. As the probe continues, police are working to track down other associates and potential customers involved in the operation.
Local law enforcement is tightening measures to curb the proliferation of homemade firearms and ensure public safety in the region.
