Bhubaneswar, May 21,( OT Webdesk)—Odisha is bracing for intense weather conditions as the India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasts Nor’Wester storms and heightened humidity across the state over the next two days.
A cyclonic circulation active over the central-eastern Arabian Sea is expected to strengthen into a low-pressure system by Thursday morning.
This system, combined with a trough extending from Punjab to eastern Bangladesh, is set to trigger thunderstorms and cloud cover across Odisha, providing slight relief from the ongoing heatwave.
On Wednesday, temperatures peaked at 41.2°C in Sambalpur, while most other regions remained below 40°C due to increased cloud cover.
The IMD has issued a yellow warning for several districts, including Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Sundargarh, and coastal regions such as Puri and Kendrapara, cautioning against thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds reaching speeds of up to 40 kmph.
Meteorologists have urged residents, farmers, and outdoor workers to take precautions against the volatile weather conditions.
With the possibility of further intensification, Odisha remains on alert as authorities prepare for any disruptions.
