Odisha could soon become a leader in green public transportation with the proposed launch of flash-charging electric buses. Designed to operate between Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, and Puri, these state-of-the-art buses aim to offer a fast, luxurious, and eco-friendly travel experience.
The initiative, proposed by Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari, introduces groundbreaking technology with 600 kW overhead chargers capable of fully recharging buses in less than 30 seconds at designated stops. These buses will not only ensure zero-emission travel but also redefine comfort, featuring executive-class seating, personal TV screens, laptop trays, air conditioning, and refreshments.
Set to be piloted in Nagpur, Maharashtra, the project aligns with India’s clean energy goals. If successful, Odisha’s commute and tourist travel could soon witness a revolutionary transformation—combining affordability, sustainability, and luxury.
