Balasore, Odisha—A coal-laden freight train en route from Dhamra to Jamshedpur caught fire near Markona in Balasore district on April 16, 2025. Smoke billowing from two bogies prompted an emergency stop at Soro station. Firefighters from the Soro Fire Department swiftly extinguished the flames, preventing further escalation. Fortunately, no casualties were reported. After containment of the fire, the train resumed its journey.
