Bhubaneswar, Apr 14 (UNI) Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Monday announced a comprehensive development plan for the Maa Tarini shrine at Ghatagaon in Keonjhar district.
Majhi, who visited the temple and offered prayers on the occasion of Odia New Year and Maha Vishuba Sankranti, said that a Detailed Project Report (DPR) worth over Rs.215 crore is being prepared for the holistic development of the temple complex.
The Chief Minister stated that once the DPR is approved, a groundbreaking ceremony will be held to initiate development work in and around the temple complex.
Official sources said a budgetary provision has already been made in this year’s budget, aimed at transforming the famous shrine into a major spiritual destination.
Majhi affirmed that the state government is committed to preserving Odisha’s religious and cultural heritage.
The DPR for the development of the Maa Tarini shrine includes restoration and beautification of the temple and its surroundings, development of approach roads, parking facilities, lighting, a pilgrim center, and a market complex.
In June last year, he announced Rs.50 crore for the beautification of the Maa Tarini Temple.
In March, the Odisha Bridge and Construction Corporation (OBCC) invited tenders for the project, which is expected to be completed within two years after the tender is approved.
