Renowned administrator and former Chief Secretary of Odisha Pradeep Kumar Jena has officially assumed office as the Chairman of the Odisha Electricity Regulatory Commission (OERC).
The swearing-in ceremony was conducted at Raj Bhavan, with Governor Dr. Hari Babu Kambhampati presiding over the formal proceedings.
The appointment, announced by the Odisha Energy Department on March 28, 2025, marks a new chapter in the state’s electricity regulatory framework. Jena, a distinguished 1989-batch IAS officer, brings a wealth of administrative experience to the role. Having served as Odisha’s Chief Secretary from February 2023 to June 2024, his leadership is anticipated to provide valuable guidance to the OERC, ensuring advancements in energy regulation across the state.
Jena succeeds Suresh Mohapatra, whose tenure witnessed significant milestones in the electricity sector. As the new Chairman, Jena aims to uphold the legacy while driving progressive reforms.
