Sambalpur University suspends Assistant Professor again for misconduct

Sambalpur, (Orissa Today), April 20: Once again, Sambalpur University in Odisha has suspended Assistant Professor Dr. Rajat Kumar Kujur, this time for misconduct and posting objectionable content against the PG Council chairperson on social media.

The Vice Chancellor issued the suspension notice on Friday following a written complaint by the PG Council chairperson, Professor Sanjukta Dash.

Under the suspension order, Dr. Kujur is prohibited from entering the administrative building or any PG department without prior university permission. Additionally, he is barred from attending any university meetings during the suspension period. Despite this, he will receive a subsistence allowance equivalent to his leave salary, provided he submits a certificate confirming no engagement in other employment, business, or profession, as outlined in the official order.

This is not the first instance of disciplinary action against Dr. Kujur. In February of this year, he was demoted to Assistant Professor (stage-II) in academic level-11 for assaulting a student and mentally harassing a female colleague, down from his previous grade of Assistant Professor (stage-III, academic level-12). Additionally, in May of last year, Dr. Kujur faced suspension for an alleged altercation with a student in September 2018.
