Barbil (Orissa Today) – A major case of water pipeline theft in Barbil has led to the arrest of six individuals, impacting the local water supply and raising concerns among residents. The incident took place in Uttam Singh Hutting, Ward No-13, Barbil, where crucial water pipelines were stolen, allegedly for monetary gain.
According to the complaint filed by Chiranjibi Behera, Project Manager at WATCO, Barbil, the theft has significantly affected water distribution to the residents. Upon receiving the report, the police launched an investigation, leading to the arrest of six accused persons and the seizure of eight iron pipes.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Suprian Singh (18), S/o Aasin Singh, Ram Sandil (20), S/o Raju Sandil, Nabin Chandra Das (23), S/o Lt. Prahalad Das, Bira Mahakud (35), S/o Lt. Umesh Mahakud, Surjit Singh (55), S/o. Lt. Pritam Singh, Taklu Das (22), S/o Lt. Jamdar Das.
All accused are residents of Uttam Singh Hutting, Ward No-15, under Barbil Police Station, Keonjhar district.
Authorities confirmed that the stolen pipelines were intended for resale, emphasizing the need for stricter surveillance and preventive measures against such crimes. The arrested individuals have been forwarded to the honorable court for legal proceedings.
