Odisha Vigilance Arrests Section Officer Over ₹9,000 Bribe in EV Loan Processing

Odisha Vigilance corruption case

Puri, June 5 (OT Webdesk): In a swift operation, Odisha Vigilance apprehended Manoj Mohanty, a Section Officer in the Sub-Divisional Veterinary Office (SDVO), Puri, for allegedly demanding and accepting a ₹9,000 bribe. The bribe was linked to the processing of an Electric Vehicle (EV) advance sanctioned for six staffers.

Despite the government approving the funds, Mohanty reportedly delayed the process, coercing the complainant into paying the amount for the withdrawal of the sanctioned money. Unable to tolerate the harassment, the complainant reached out to Odisha Vigilance, triggering a trap operation on June 5, 2025.

Vigilance officials caught Mohanty red-handed in his office, recovering the full bribe amount from his possession. Chemical tests confirmed his handling of the bribe money. Following the arrest, raids were conducted at his residence in Cuttack and his native village home in Mahanga.

A case has been registered under the Prevention of Corruption Act, 2018, and further investigations are underway. Odisha Vigilance has reaffirmed its commitment to cracking down on corruption across government offices in the state.
