Sonepur, ( OT Webdesk): In a significant step toward regional development, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi visited Sonepur today to inaugurate and lay the foundation for 56 welfare projects worth ₹323 crore.
The initiatives focus on infrastructure, irrigation, healthcare, and community growth, reinforcing the state government’s commitment to modernisation.
During the event, CM Majhi inaugurated 11 completed projects valued at ₹80 crore and launched 45 new projects worth ₹244 crore, including roads, bridges, healthcare facilities, irrigation schemes, and hostel infrastructure.
A major highlight was the announcement of four in-stream storage (ISS) structures along the Mahanadi River and its tributaries, aimed at revolutionising irrigation and boosting agricultural productivity.
“We will harness Subarnapur’s rivers for the benefit of its people,” Majhi declared, emphasising sustainable development.
He also reaffirmed his government’s commitment to fulfilling promises, noting that 11 out of 21 pledged initiatives have been implemented within a year.
The Chief Minister distributed work orders and assistance to beneficiaries of various state welfare schemes, further underscoring the administration’s drive for inclusive growth.
Bolangir MP Sangeeta Kumari Singh Deo praised Majhi’s leadership, highlighting government efforts to propel backwards regions forward.
Several MLAs and officials attended the event, marking a major government-driven development push for Sonepur.
