Barbil,(OT Webdesk) — The prestigious Town Club of Barbil witnessed an electrifying finale of the Double Carrom Knockout Tournament, where Mithun & Partner clinched the championship title with a stellar performance against Mohan & Partner.

Played in a best-of-three format, Mithun’s team secured victory by winning the first two matches consecutively, earning well-deserved acclaim.

Despite the narrow margin of defeat, Mohan & Partner showcased commendable skill and sportsmanship.

Tournament umpire MD Firozi remarked that the match was neck-and-neck, with both teams delivering high-calibre gameplay.

This marked the first time that Mithun’s team defeated Mohan & Partner, who have long held dominance in regional carrom tournaments.

Established in 1975, Town Club is one of Barbil’s oldest and most respected institutions.

The tournament was organised to commemorate the club’s golden jubilee and was proudly sponsored by Seva Group.

Kendujhar MP Shri Ananta Nayak graced the prize distribution ceremony as the chief guest, awarding the winning team a trophy and a cash prize of Rs 11,000.

The runners-up, Mohan & Partner, received a trophy and Rs 6,000 in recognition of their efforts.

Individual excellence was also celebrated. Arshad Khan was honoured as Best Finisher, Pawan Roy from Sahar received the Best Player Duo award, and Sanjay Kumar Mahakud from Belkundi was named Emerging Player of the tournament.

The event was attended by several distinguished guests, including Seva Group founder Shankar Konar, president Binod Bhausianka, Town Club president Shyam Sundar Sharma, and secretary Surendra Singh Kalsi.

The tournament’s success was made possible through the dedicated efforts of Ravindra Mohapatra, MD, Baktawar, M, D Nisar Khan, Lalit Sarawgi, Sarvan Lal, and Padmalochan Das.

During the closing ceremony, MP Shri Nayak assured support to further develop the club for multi-sport use, promising new opportunities for local talent to flourish.
