Crocodile Rescued from Backyard Pond in Kendrapara Amid Flood Alert

Kendrapara, (OT Webdesk) — In a startling incident, a 6-foot-3-inch crocodile was discovered in a household pond in Endulapur village under Rajnagar block, Kendrapara district.

The reptile is believed to have entered the area due to rising floodwaters from nearby rivers and wetlands.

Local residents spotted the crocodile early Saturday and promptly alerted forest officials.

Responding swiftly, the Forest Department conducted a successful rescue operation, ensuring the safety of both villagers and the displaced animal. The crocodile was later relocated to a secure habitat.

This incident highlights the growing frequency of wildlife intrusion into human settlements in Odisha, particularly during the monsoon season.

Authorities have urged residents to remain vigilant and report any unusual sightings immediately.

Experts attribute such occurrences to changing ecological conditions and increased flooding, which disrupt natural habitats and force animals into populated areas.
