Tata Main Hospital Joda Faces Scrutiny Over Alleged Suicide and Evidence Tampering

Keonjhar(OT Webdesk): A tragic event at Tata Main Hospital in Joda, Odisha, has shocked the local community.

A woman named Balma Munda, from Ward No. 7 in the Ulihating area, was admitted to the hospital on July 10 because of an infection in her leg caused by broken glass.

She was staying in the women’s ward, with her daughter by her side as an attendant.

Late at night, while her daughter was asleep, Balma allegedly used a knife to cut her own throat and died. Her family has accused the hospital of trying to hide the incident.

They say the hospital did not inform the police and sent the body home around 6:20 in the morning. They also allege that hospital staff cleaned the blood from the ward and washed the bed, which they believe was an attempt to destroy evidence.

This incident created tension inside the hospital. Government officials, including the Sub-Divisional Magistrate, Tehsildar, and SDPO, arrived to review the situation.

They promised a full investigation and action against anyone found guilty.

The body was sent for postmortem under the supervision of a magistrate, and the Red Cross gave Rs 10,000 to support the family.

So far, the hospital has not made a clear statement. When asked, one of the administrative officers, Deepti Chaturvedi, chose not to comment.

Now, the entire region is waiting to see whether strong action will be taken against the hospital administration.
