Balasore, July 19(OT Webdesk): A major road accident on National Highway 60 late Friday night has left over 30 passengers injured after a Bhubaneswar–Kolkata passenger bus rammed into a stationary truck from Andhra Pradesh near Junabalada, under Basta police limits in Balasore district, Odisha.
Initial investigations indicate the collision was likely due to driver negligence—either a momentary loss of control or falling asleep at the wheel.
The front portion of the bus was severely mangled in the impact. At the time of the crash, the vehicle was carrying more than 50 passengers.
Emergency teams swiftly transported the injured to the Balasore Community Health Centre (CHC), while others were taken to the Basta police station for assistance and statement recording. Fortunately, no fatalities have been reported.
Authorities have detained the bus driver for questioning and seized both vehicles involved.
Officials have assured further action based on ongoing inquiries, as concerns mount over road safety measures in Odisha’s busy highway networks.
