Barbil : The tragic death of Soumyashree Bisi, a student of FM College in Balasore district, has sent shockwaves across Odisha. Allegedly subjected to harassment by a faculty member and denied justice, Soumyashree resorted to self-immolation, later succumbing to her injuries during treatment. In response, the Odisha Pradesh Congress called for a statewide bandh demanding judicial inquiry and guaranteed safety for women across the state.
Barbil town witnessed a complete and peaceful shutdown in solidarity with the cause. Citizens responded with overwhelming support, reflecting a collective demand for accountability and justice. Congress workers actively engaged with the public, raising awareness about Soumyashree’s ordeal and the broader issue of women’s safety.
