Odisha Bandh Sparks Statewide Disruption Over Student’s Tragic Death

Bhubaneswar, July 17(OT Webdesk): A 12-hour statewide bandh led by the Congress and six allied parties brought Odisha to a standstill on Thursday, following the death of a 20-year-old Fakir Mohan College student who succumbed to injuries from a self-immolation attempt.

Protesters blocked key national highways and chanted slogans demanding an impartial investigation, accusing the state government of negligence.

The agitation disrupted traffic in districts such as Balasore, Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, Sambalpur, and Berhampur.

Public transport was suspended, educational institutions closed, and security personnel were deployed to maintain law and order.

Congress leaders pledged to intensify their agitation until justice is delivered, urging swift administrative accountability.
