(OT Webdesk)In a deeply emotional interaction, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi spoke with the father of 20-year-old Soumyashree, a student of Fakir Mohan Autonomous College in Balasore, Odisha, who tragically took her own life after allegedly facing mental and sexual harassment by a college lecturer.
Gandhi expressed his profound condolences and described the incident as “inhuman and shameful,” pledging unwavering support to the bereaved family and vowing to help secure justice.
“In his voice, I felt his daughter’s pain, dreams, and struggle,” Gandhi stated, emphasising that this tragedy is a wound inflicted on society at large.
The Congress party is expected to raise the issue at various political levels, demanding accountability and systemic reforms to prevent such injustices from recurring.
