Hyderabad, Jul 10 (UNI) The Telangana Crime Investigation Department (CID) has arrested Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA) president A Jagan Mohan Rao, treasurer CJ Srinivas and CEO Sunil Kante on multiple charges including forgery, cheating, and criminal breach of trust in connection with alleged misappropriation of association funds.

CID officials confirmed that two other individuals – Rajender Yadav and his wife Kavitha – both members of a local cricket club, were also taken into custody for questioning.

The arrests stem from a complaint lodged on June 9 by Telangana Cricket Association General Secretary D Guruva Reddy. He alleged that Rao had contested the 2023 HCA elections using forged documents, and with the help of others, siphoned off funds amounting to Rs 2.32 crore.

CID sources claimed that the investigation found Rao had faked cricket club membership credentials to qualify for the HCA presidential post. As per the association’s rules, only members of affiliated clubs can contest.

The agency is also looking into a separate inquiry conducted by the state vigilance department, following a complaint from IPL franchise Sun Risers Hyderabad (SRH).

The franchise alleged that HCA officials demanded extra complimentary passes ahead of their March 27 match against the Lucknow Super Giants. SRH accused HCA staff of locking up the corporate box and using it as leverage to obtain additional tickets.

A report submitted recently to the state government by the vigilance department found the HCA in violation of privileges.
