More women than men using Odisha Yatri Platform

Bhubaneswar, July 9 (UNI) Women have shown greater confidence in Odisha’s public transport ecosystem, with recent data revealing that 57.44 per cent of users on the Odisha Yatri platform between October 2024 and July 2025 were women.
According to official sources, out of the 2.57 lakh passengers who used the platform during this period, over 1.48 lakh were women — a remarkable reflection of improved accessibility, safety, and gender inclusion in the state’s mobility landscape.
The Odisha Yatri app, launched by Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi in January, began its pilot operations in October 2024.

Month-on-month trends show a consistent preference among women users, with usage peaking at 61.63 per cent in January 2025. Even in the latest data for July 2025, women accounted for 55.38 per cent of users, significantly outnumbering male users.

Transport officials attribute this encouraging trend to several factors, including verified drivers, real-time trip tracking, improved last-mile connectivity, and a robust grievance redressal system.

The app’s integration with enforcement and transport authorities has helped create a safe and accountable commuting experience, particularly for women and other vulnerable groups.
“The data speaks for itself—women are not just participating; they are leading the adoption of Odisha Yatri,” said a senior official.

“This highlights the government’s strong commitment to gender-responsive and inclusive transport solutions.”
Further emphasising its community-focused approach, Odisha Yatri, in collaboration with the State Transport Authority, provided free auto-rickshaw services to over 30,000 pilgrims during this year’s Puri Ratha Yatra.
Looking ahead, the government plans to expand Odisha Yatri services to more cities across the state and introduce ambulance and boating services under the platform, ensuring broader reach and impact
