PM Modi Awarded Namibia’s Highest Civilian Honour, Strengthening Bilateral Ties

Windhoek, Namibia – July 9(OT Webdesk): In a landmark diplomatic moment, Prime Minister Narendra Modi was conferred with the Order of the Most Ancient Welwitschia Mirabilis, Namibia’s highest civilian honour, during his state visit to the African nation.

Presented by Namibian President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah, the award recognises India’s enduring friendship and collaborative engagement with Namibia across economic, cultural, and strategic fronts.

PM Modi becomes the first Indian leader to receive this prestigious accolade.

Expressing deep gratitude, the Prime Minister dedicated the honour to the 1.4 billion citizens of India, calling it a symbol of “the historic bond between our peoples.” He added that the recognition would inspire future generations to further elevate Indo-Namibian relations.

The ceremony, held in Windhoek, is viewed as a milestone in South-South cooperation, especially at a time when India is deepening partnerships across Africa.

Analysts note that the accolade marks India’s growing global influence and reflects Namibia’s commitment to fostering deeper diplomatic synergy with New Delhi.

As both nations look toward future collaboration in trade, clean energy, and cultural exchange, this honour stands as a beacon for shared aspirations.
