Dr Mukherjee a saviour of Indian education, culture and nationalism: Odisha CM

Bhubaneswar, July 6 (UNI) Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi today paid tributes to Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee on his birth anniversary, saying that the towering leader’s life serves as an enduring example and a source of inspiration for every Indian”India will always take pride in a great public figure like Dr. Mukherjee” he said while attending the 125th state-level birth anniversary celebration of Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee.

The celebration was organised by the Odia Language, Literature and Culture Department in collaboration with the Information and Public Relations Department, government of Odisha.

CM Majhi described Dr Mukherjee as the saviour of Indian education, culture, tradition, and nationalism.

He stated that Dr. Mukherjee was among the foremost intellectuals of the early 20th century who rose to champion Indian education, culture, tradition, and nationalism in the service of the motherland.

“Dr. Mukherjee was not only an educationist but also a dedicated national leader, visionary thinker, and true patriot,” he emphasised.

The Chief Minister added that Dr. Mukherjee’s ideology and cultural nationalism laid the ideological foundation of today’s Bharatiya Janata Party(BJP).

Referring to Mukherjee’s strong views on national integration, Majhi said he firmly believed that Kashmir was an integral part of India and should not be treated with special provisions. “His slogan ‘Do Vidhan, Do Pradhan, Do Nishan- Nahi Chalega’ still resonates in the hearts of every Indian,” he remarked.

Majhi further stated that the bold step taken by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to abrogate Articles 370 and 35(A) of the Constitution stands as the most fitting tribute to Dr. Mukherjee, fulfilling the dream and struggle he had undertaken for national unity.

“Today, as we build a new Odisha and move towards a stronger India, the policies and vision of Dr. Mukherjee continue to guide our path,” the Chief Minister said.

On the occasion, the Chief Minister and other dignitaries inaugurated a photo exhibition gallery showcasing the life and contributions of Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee.

A short film on his life was also screened by the Odia Language, Literature and Culture Department. The Chief Minister felicitated the winners of a debate competition held to mark the occasion.
