Bhubaneswar, July 2,(OT Webdesk): The Odisha Administrative Service Association (OASA) has sparked a statewide outcry following the alleged assault on Ratnakar Sahoo, Additional Commissioner of the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC), reportedly orchestrated by BJP leader Jagannath Pradhan.
In a formal memorandum submitted to Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, OASA condemned the incident as a “heinous act” and a direct violation of public service dignity.
Association President Jyoti Ranjan Mishra, along with other office bearers, demanded:
- Immediate arrest of Jagannath Pradhan
- Enhanced field-level security for officers like Tahsildars, BDOs, and Sub-Collectors
- A public statement from the government denouncing the incident
Highlighting that this is not an isolated concern, OASA declared a statewide mass leave, paralysing operations across multiple administrative divisions. “This is not just about one officer—it’s about the collective safety and respect of Odisha’s entire civil service machinery,” the letter stated.
Amid growing unrest, CM Majhi assured action, stating, “No matter how influential the offender may be, the law will prevail.”
As the administrative deadlock deepens, all eyes are on the government’s next move to restore confidence within the bureaucratic ranks.
