Outer Ratnabhandar Renovation Resumes Ahead of Rath Yatra

Ratnabhandar renovation Jagannath Temple

Puri, June 28(OT Webdesk): Restoration work on the outer Ratnabhandar of the revered Jagannath Temple has resumed today, following the successful completion of repairs on the inner chamber.

With barely eight days remaining before the Rath Yatra festivities commence, the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) and the temple administration have prepared an accelerated repair schedule to complete the work on time.

According to ASI officials, nearly 90 stone blocks from the outer treasury will be replaced to ensure structural integrity.

Skilled artisans and specialists will work in two shifts daily to meet the strict timeline, emphasizing meticulous craftsmanship and safety standards.

In terms of aesthetics, if gold plating proves unfeasible, temple authorities are considering adorning the treasury door with silver finishes on Burmese teakwood—a move subject to final approval by the temple’s management committee.

The collaborative efforts reflect the temple administration’s resolve to uphold the sanctity and security of the sacred treasury before the annual chariot procession draws thousands of pilgrims to the holy town.
