Bhubaneswar, June 25(OT Webdesk): Tensions flared outside Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Majhi’s official residence as Youth Congress activists launched a dramatic protest on Wednesday, pelting eggs and tomatoes in a bold display of dissent.
The protestors alleged growing administrative apathy towards women’s safety and the erosion of Odia Asmita—a sentiment deeply tied to Odisha’s cultural and linguistic identity.
Attempting to breach the high-security zone, the demonstrators raised slogans such as “Where is Odia Asmita?” and displayed placards demanding accountability.
Swift police intervention led to several detentions before the situation escalated further.
Officials confirmed that law and order were preserved, while analysts noted the move as a symbolic salvo in Odisha’s shifting political landscape, one that taps into identity politics and rising concerns over gender-based issues.
This marks the latest in a series of public mobilisations highlighting dissatisfaction with the state administration’s response to social justice concerns.
