Odisha CM Majhi Launches ‘Adivasi Shakti Samabesh’ to Empower Tribal Communities

Baripada, (OT Webdesk) — In a powerful tribute to Odisha’s tribal heritage, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi inaugurated the state-level Adivasi Shakti Samabesh in Baripada, Mayurbhanj, reaffirming the government’s commitment to inclusive growth through tribal empowerment.

Held at the historic Chhau Field, the event celebrated the cultural vibrancy and socioeconomic resilience of Odisha’s tribal communities.

CM Majhi spotlighted the pivotal role of Scheduled Tribes and Scheduled Castes—constituting 40% of the state’s population—in shaping a prosperous Odisha by 2036.

Key initiatives announced include:

  • Tribal Livelihood Mission, which has uplifted 1.45 lakh families via agriculture and irrigation-based projects.
  • Rs 1 lakh aid for 5,000 tribal youth and women to launch small enterprises.
  • A Rs 732.48 crore allocation for expanding residential education through new hostels and modernized institutions.
  • Launch of Shaheed Madho Singh Hata Yojana and Shaheed Laxman Nayak Adarsh Ashram Vidyalaya Yojana to boost tribal education access.
  • Rollout of the PM-Janman Yojana, targeting 1,679 villages across 14 districts, aimed at uplifting Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups (PVTGs).
  • Foundation stones laid for the ₹100 crore Tribal Culture and Heritage Bhavan and ₹50 crore Tribal Language Institute.

The CM also applauded the symbolic rise of President Droupadi Murmu from the tribal heartland of Mayurbhanj, calling her a “national inspiration.”

The event saw participation from prominent dignitaries, tribal leaders, and MLAs who echoed the sentiment that tribal progress is central to Odisha’s development vision.
