New Delhi, June 18(OT Webdesk): In a landmark move aimed at transforming highway travel, the Union Government has launched a Rs 3,000 FASTag-based annual pass exclusively for private vehicles.
Effective August 15, 2025, the scheme allows car, jeep, and van owners up to 200 toll transactions per year, streamlining payments and reducing congestion at toll plazas nationwide.
Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari, announced the initiative, highlighting its potential to eliminate disputes and delays, especially near toll plazas within a 60 km radius.
The pass can be activated or renewed via the Rajmarg Yatra app or the official websites of NHAI and MoRTH.
Authorities view this digitised approach as a pivotal step toward enhancing commuter convenience while boosting operational efficiency on Indian highways.
Since FASTag became mandatory in 2021, over 10.1 crore tags have been issued and daily toll collections average Rs 193 crore, underscoring the system’s widespread adoption.
This initiative is expected to encourage higher digital compliance, reduce carbon emissions caused by traffic, and make road travel seamless for millions of users across the country.
