Bhubaneswar, June 18(OT Webdesk): The Odisha Vigilance department has intensified its crackdown on corruption with a widened investigation into 2021-batch IAS officer and Sub-Collector of Dharamgarh, Dhiman Chakma, who was arrested on June 9 for allegedly accepting a Rs 10 lakh bribe from a local businessman.
Following his arrest under the Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 2018, Chakma was suspended from service and assigned to the General Administration & Public Grievance Department in Bhubaneswar, with restrictions placed on his movement without official clearance.
Vigilance officials have now deployed three investigative teams to inspect Chakma’s personal and familial properties across North Tripura and Himachal Pradesh—including Manali and Keylong—after securing search warrants from the Vigilance Special Judge in Bhawanipatna.
These teams are scrutinising documents related to bank transactions, property ownership, and financial investments to detect any disproportionate assets or concealed holdings.
The probe represents a major move in Odisha’s larger anti-corruption initiative targeting high-level officials.
Authorities suggest that more revelations may follow as investigations continue across multiple jurisdictions.
