Berhampur, June 17, (OT Webdesk): The Gopalpur police have arrested three more individuals in connection with the gang-rape of a 20-year-old college student at Gopalpur beach, bringing the total arrests to ten. Earlier on Monday, seven were held.
The incident occurred on Sunday evening when the victim and her male friend visited the beach to celebrate the Raja festival. A group of ten men allegedly molested the female student, and when her friend intervened, they assaulted him and gang-raped her.
Following the victim’s complaint, police registered a case and initially detained seven suspects. Three additional suspects were later apprehended while trying to flee.
Superintendent of Police Saravana Vivek M confirmed that a special team has been formed to expedite the investigation and ensure justice for the victim. The police have also visited the crime scene to gather evidence.
