Bhubaneshwar( OT Webdesk): In a significant triumph against insurgency, security forces eliminated seven Maoists, including top-ranking leaders, in a three-day anti-Naxal operation in Chhattisgarh’s Bijapur district.
The encounters unfolded in the dense forests of Indravati National Park, where the Special Task Force (STF), District Reserve Guard (DRG), and CRPF’s CoBRA unit engaged Maoist cadres in intense gun battles.
Among the deceased were Central Committee Member Narasimha Chalam (Sudhakar) and Special Zonal Committee Member Bhaskar (Mailarapu Adellu)—both carrying bounties of ₹40 lakh and ₹45 lakh, respectively.
Security personnel recovered AK-47 rifles and explosives, further tightening their grip on insurgency strongholds.
However, the forces faced natural challenges, including snake bites, honeybee stings, and dehydration, necessitating medical assistance for injured personnel.
This marks the third major operation against Maoist forces within three weeks.
On May 21, another mission resulted in the elimination of CPI (Maoist) General Secretary Nambala Keshav Rao and 26 insurgents, delivering a severe blow to Maoist operations in the region.
Officials reaffirm their commitment to eradicating insurgency, ensuring peace and security in affected areas.
