Puri, June 7 (OT Webdesk)— In a significant move to bring transparency to the sale of sacred chariot components, the Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) has introduced a Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for allocating elements from the grand Rath Yatra chariots.
According to the SOP, the price of each chariot wheel has been set at Rs 3 lakh, while other components will be sold at structured rates. This initiative aims to ensure ethical allocation and prevent unauthorised transactions.
The chariots, crafted from sacred wood, hold immense spiritual significance, symbolising centuries-old traditions. SJTA officials emphasise that the SOP ensures orderly distribution while preserving the sanctity of these materials.
Purchase Process and Accessibility Devotees and collectors can obtain further details from the SJTA office, where a revised price list and clear purchasing guidelines have been made publicly available. This framework enhances accessibility and safeguards the cultural heritage of Lord Jagannath’s annual procession.
With the Rath Yatra fast approaching, the SOP serves as a structured approach to balancing tradition with modern governance.
