Former Odisha BJP MLA Mohammad Rafiq passes away

Bhubaneswar, June 6 (UNI) Former MLA and senior BJP leader from the old Melchamunda constituency in Odisha’s Bargarh district, Mohammad Rafiq, passed away on Friday. He was 71.
Rafiq had been undergoing treatment at a hospital in Bargarh for some time.

He was elected to the Odisha Legislative Assembly from the Melchhamunda constituency in 2004.

He also served as the state President of the BJP Minority Front and was Vice-President of the Sohela Durgapuja Committee.

Rafiq was a very popular leader in his constituency, known for his unassuming behaviour and simplicity.

BJP Odisha President Manmohan Samal and State General Secretary (Organisation) Manas Kumar Mohanty have expressed profound grief over the demise of Rafiq and prayed for the eternal peace of his soul. Samal also expressed condolences to the bereaved family members.
