Odisha Intensifies Monsoon Disease Control Measures

Odisha monsoon disease prevention

Bhubaneswar, June 4, (OT Webdesk) – With the arrival of the monsoon, Odisha’s government has ramped up efforts to prevent the spread of seasonal infectious diseases. Chief Secretary Manoj Ahuja led a high-level review meeting alongside senior officials from the Health & Family Welfare Department to strategise preventive actions against malaria, dengue, jaundice, and cholera.

Authorities have been instructed to identify high-risk areas and implement intensive mosquito control programs, particularly in urban regions. The state is deploying medicated mosquito nets and insecticide sprays to curb disease transmission in malaria-prone districts. Additionally, officials are ensuring public access to safe drinking water through purification initiatives and strict monitoring of food hygiene.

To bolster community awareness, mass health campaigns will be conducted across rural and urban areas. Citizens are urged to take preventive steps, including maintaining hygiene, avoiding water stagnation, and seeking immediate medical attention for symptoms of infection.

During the meeting, officials also reviewed Odisha’s COVID-19 status. While several states in India report a slight increase in cases, Odisha remains under control, with only 23 active infections recorded from recent testing. Health experts have advised vulnerable individuals, including those with pre-existing conditions, to remain cautious.

The Odisha government reassures citizens of its commitment to public health and urges cooperation in following preventive measures. As seasonal diseases remain a challenge, coordinated efforts between authorities and the public are crucial to safeguarding lives.
