Bhubaneswar, June 4, (OT Webdesk) – The Odisha Higher Education Department has announced a major recruitment drive, inviting applications for Vice-Chancellor positions in 13 state public universities. This initiative aims to strengthen leadership and academic excellence in higher education across the state.
To qualify for the role, candidates must be distinguished academicians with at least 10 years of experience as a professor or an equivalent position. Additionally, applicants must be under 66 years of age as of December 1, 2025.
Selected Vice-Chancellors will receive a fixed monthly salary of ₹2,10,000, along with a special allowance of ₹11,250 and other benefits. The tenure for the position is four years or until the age of 70, whichever comes first.
Candidates must submit their applications both online and offline:
- A scanned copy must be uploaded via the HIMS portal and emailed to the Higher Education Department.
- A physical copy must also be sent via Speed Post to the department’s office.
Key Deadlines:
- Online submission: July 5, 2025
- Physical submission: July 10, 2025
- Final rejection date for late submissions: July 15, 2025
Applicants can apply to multiple universities and must indicate their preferences in their applications.
A three-member committee will review applications and conduct interviews for shortlisted candidates who have applied to multiple institutions. The recruitment process emphasises transparency and merit, ensuring that the selected leaders possess visionary leadership and academic excellence.
