June 2, ( OT Webdesk) – A passenger bus travelling from Hyderabad overturned in the Bijaghati ghat area of Malkangiri district early Monday morning, leaving over 50 passengers feared trapped inside the wreckage.
The incident occurred when the driver reportedly lost control at a sharp curve, causing the vehicle to overturn while descending the steep terrain.
Local villagers and emergency responders immediately began rescue operations, with authorities dispatching additional teams to assist in retrieving the trapped passengers.
As per initial reports, the bus was carrying people returning to Odisha from Hyderabad.
While the exact number of casualties or injuries remains unconfirmed, emergency services are prioritising safe extraction efforts.
Authorities have urged caution for those travelling on ghat roads, especially during challenging weather conditions.
