Bhubaneswar, May 23 (OT Webdesk) — Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi chaired a high-level meeting at Lok Seva Bhawan to review key infrastructure projects aimed at transforming the Bhubaneswar-Cuttack Twin City region. The discussions focused on alleviating traffic congestion, enhancing urban aesthetics, and ensuring sustainable development while prioritising rehabilitation for displaced families.
Among the projects reviewed were the elevated corridor from Jaydev Vihar to Nandankanan, the Daya West Canal Road, and the widening of the Sundarpada-Jatani road. Additionally, flyovers at Kalpana Chhak, Museum Chhak, and Shishu Bhawan Chhak, along with an underpass at AG Chhak, are set to improve traffic flow significantly.
The state is also working on a Left Parallel Road connecting key locations and three Right Access Roads, as well as an Inner Ring Road to streamline mobility in the growing metropolitan area.
Chief Minister Majhi highlighted the importance of these developments in making the Twin City a modern, well-connected urban hub. “These initiatives will enhance connectivity, reduce congestion, and contribute to a smarter, more aesthetically pleasing city,” he stated.
A crucial aspect of the meeting was the rehabilitation of 366 displaced families, with the state assuring resettlement and financial assistance.
Government officials from multiple departments, including Public Works, Housing & Urban Development, Finance, and Police, participated in the review, ensuring a coordinated approach to the city’s modernisation.
These infrastructure projects mark a significant leap toward transforming Bhubaneswar and Cuttack into a model smart city, balancing growth with sustainability and inclusivity.
