Barkani Village, Odisha – A peaceful protest against the construction of a railway line by Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) turned into a tragedy when a young demonstrator was allegedly crushed by a JCB machine. The incident, which occurred on Saturday, escalated tensions between local villagers and police, leaving multiple injuries on both sides.
The protesters, concerned about displacement and lack of proper rehabilitation, had been opposing the railway project for weeks.
