Ratna Bhandar Renovation Nears Completion, Preserving Odisha’s Heritage The iconic Ratna Bhandar at Puri’s Jagannath Temple is set for a historic revival as renovation work nears completion. Led by the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI), the restoration aims to secure the temple’s inner sanctum for another century. Damaged beams have been replaced, and long-term structural integrity has been ensured with reinforced steel supports.
Once repairs are complete, the priceless ornaments and jewels housed in the Ratna Bhandar will be relocated following strict Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). The project is a milestone in safeguarding not only the architectural wonder of the temple but also Odisha’s spiritual and cultural heritage.
Justice Biswanath Rath, head of the Ratna Bhandar Inspection Committee, emphasized the use of traditional techniques and materials to honor the historical significance of the monument. He expressed gratitude for the smooth progress and underscored the importance of preserving this centuries-old treasure trove for future generations.
